A large late 19th century French carriage clock by Drocourt with an exceptionally engraved mask and unusually large movement.
The large gilt-bronze case has a hinged handle above, beveled glasses to the sides and an oval viewing glass above.
The white porcelain dials for the hours and alarm have Roman numerals for the hours, Arabic numbers for the alarm, steel-cut hands and a finely engraved and finished gilt mask.
The large eight day time, strike and alarm movement is wound and set off the backplate, has a large silvered balance platform with a lever escapement, has the indications in English, strikes on a gong and carries the Drocourt trademark and serial number, 7439.
The case size is not that of a giant, but the movement fills the case and is much larger than the standard carriage clock movement.
