A small mid-18th century double fusee ebonized bracket clock by Stephen Rimbault, London.


The well proportioned ebonized inverted bell-top case has ebony frets front and back, a hinged handle above, molded doors front and back with ‘lambs tongue’ corners and large arched glasses to the sides.


The brass broken arch dial plate has decorative floral spandrels, steel-cut blued hands, a silvered engraved chapter ring dial with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numbers for the five-minute marks,  a silvered engraved strike/silent chapter, matted centers, date and false pendulum apertures and a plaque signed ‘Stephen Rimbault, London’.


The large eight-day twin fusee movement has knopped pillars, date and strike/silent features, rackwork striking with repeat on a bell, the original crownwheel escapement and a profusely engraved backplate and back cock apron. It is secured in the case by two screws through the bottom of the case and two turn latches flanking the dial.
