c.1885 French Gilt Bronze and Marble Swinging Lyre Clock.
Inv. #: df66
Dial:

The white porcelain dial has Roman numerals for the hours, Arabic five-minute marks, gilt fleur de lis half hour marks, engraved gilt-bronze hands and a turned and beaded bezel decorated with brilliants.

Movement:

The very nice quality eight-day time and strike movement has skeletonized plates, a pinwheel escapement and is suspended from above by a steel-spring with a screwed fast/slow adjustment. The crutch engages a screwed pin below that serves as the beat adjustment and causes the movement to swing side-to-side as it runs.
