LeRoy and Fils, Paris.
Finely engraved gilt-bronze oval case with finely executed enamel panels to four sides.
The rectangular polychrome enamel panel has a romantic scene below, stylized Roman numerals for the hours, steel cut hands and is indistinctly signed by the retailer, ‘Le Roy and Fils’.
The eight-day time only movement has screwed pillars, is wound and set off the backplate and retains the original silvered lever balance platform.
For similar enamel panels see Robert’s, ‘Carriage and Other Travelling Clocks’, pg.190. The carriage clock pictured has very similar ‘Sevres’ style panels that they attribute to being made in Limoges.
