An exceptionally rare early 20th century automated fire-engine industrial clock.
The red painted, silvered and gilt-bronze case stands on a black Belgian marble base and depicts an early 20th century horse drawn steam powered fire engine. It has ‘D.H. Depose’ engraved on a silvered plaque and has a hinged silvered door to access the winding arbor for the animation movement.
The painted silvered chapter-ring dial has Roman numerals for the hours, a gilt-bronze center, Arabic 5-minute marks and steel-cut hands. The painted silvered chapter-ring barometer dial is in French, has a gilt center and dual indicator hands.
The time-only movement is wound through the front, has a balance wheel escapement and is adjusted for fast/slow out the dial.
The animation movement is housed below, is wound out the back and drives the large wheel and three piston linkages for approximately 2 hours.
