A good English mid-19th century ormolu eight-day double fusee carriage clock.
Case
The typical McCabe case has beveled glasses to 4 sides, a folding handle with a reeded center and a lift-out shuttered back door engraved with the needed indications.
Dial
TheĀ silvered, elaborately engraved dial has Roman numerals for the hours, steel-cut hands and is signed 'Jas. McCabe, London'.
Movement
The eight-day twin-fusee movement has well-cut wheelwork, a push-button repeat, is wound and set off the backplate, strikes on a large coiled gong and is engraved 'Jas McCabe, London, 2478'. The balance platform above has an underslung lever escapement with a monometallic balance wheel.
