Case
The gilt and silvered bronze case has a base with canted corners that supports the personification of wind. It is surmounted by a circular frame adorned with silvered zodiac plaques, an equatorial chapter ring and a rotating globe. Mounted to the sides are engraved silvered plaques that have the names of famous explorers and the dates of their famous explorations with the dates ranging from 1436-1837.
Dial
The equatorial chapter ring serves as the dial with hours marked by the stars.
Movement
The large rectangular movement is accessed by sliding the front and back panels out, sits on a platform signed by the maker, carries a Pons stamp, has a silk-thread suspension with the fast/slow off the backplate, has the globe drive and its adjustment originating where the motion work would normally be and has tandem spring barrels.
Globe
The 5.5 inch globe is in French, is signed by Olivier Pinot and rotates once per day.
