Rare early 20th century French industrial clock in the form of a vertical boiler with barometer and thermometer. The multi-finish case is in the form of a coal fired steam cylinder with assorted pipes and relief valves. Above is the simulated centrifugal governor that spins for approximately 3 hours when the animation movement is wound and the whole stands on a square black Belgian marble base.
Dial
The silvered clock dial has black Roman numerals for the hours, Arabic 5-minute marks, steel-cut hands and a gilt-bronze bezel with beveled glass.
The silvered barometer dial has the customary weather indications in English, two indicator hands and a gilt-bronze bezel with beveled glass.
The silvered engraved thermometer dial is in Fahrenheit and has a mercury tube with spiral bottom.
Movement
The animation movement is housed in the top, wound through the back and spins the governor for aproximately 3 hours when wound.
The 8-day time-only movement is wound and adjusted for fast slow out the dial, has a cylinder escapement planted on the backplate and is numbered '224'.
