c.1895 French Three-Chain Conical Clock by Guilmet.
Inv. #: f348
Maker:

Guilmet

Description:

A gilt and patinated three chain conical clock with the blue ball rotating around the silvered rod. The patinated metal statue depicts a classically adorned female figure on an ebonized wood base. The clockwork is suspended by three decorative chains from a complicated spring suspension. The ball has applied Roman numerals for the hours and decorative appliques to anchor the chains. At the top of the ball is the small spinning detent and below a decorative gilt-bronze finial. The eight-day time-only conical movement is adjusted for fast/slow by an arbor located just behind the detent that raises and lowers a heavy lead weight.
