An exceptionally rare early 20th century automated fire-engine industrial clock. |
Case: |
The red painted, silvered and gilt-bronze case stands on a black Belgian marble base and depicts an early 20th century horse drawn steam powered fire engine. It is stamped ‘6’ in numerous places, has ‘D.H. Depose’ engraved on a silvered plaque and has a hinged silvered door to access the animation movement. |
Dial: |
The painted silvered chapter-ring dial has Roman numerals for the hours, a gilt-bronze center, Arabic 5-minute marks and steel-cut hands. The painted silvered chapter-ring barometer dial is in English, has a gilt center and dual indicator hands. |
Movement: |
The time-only movement is wound through the front, has a balance wheel escapement and is adjusted for fast/slow out the dial. The animation movement is housed below, is wound out the back and drives the large wheel and three pistons for approximately 2 hours. |
