A rare c.1900 French gilt, copper and silvered bronze industrial vertical steam boiler clock.

The large circular case is in the form of a vertical boiler that includes rivets, a coal door, numerous pipes, shutoff valves, weights and guages, a smokestack with a thermometer and a governor. The whole stands on a circular Belgian marble base.

The silvered painted chapter-ring dial has Roman numerals for the hours and steel-cult hands.

The eight-day time and strike clock movement has a balance wheel escapement.

The animated movement is wound out the side and drives the governor for several hours.
