Case: |
The hinged mahogany box has both full and stop hinges, spring loaded push-button closures and an engraved bone plaque, ‘1081, L. LEROY& Cie’. The center tier holds the chronometer while the lower tier has a compartment for the original ratcheted key. |
Dial: |
The engraved silvered dial has a sector sub-dial for the power up/down indicator that counts down from 36 to 0. It has Roman numerals for the hours and a large second’s dial below. The hour, minute and power indicator hands are silver/gilt while the seconds hand is cut steel.

Movement: |
The movement is housed in a mounted tub with a screwed bezel and a thick beveled glass. The 36-hour fusee movement has frosted silver plates, screwed posts, a detent escapement, a cut-bimetallic balance wheel with screwed temperature compensating weights and a helical balance spring with upper and lower terminal curves. It is signed ‘No.1100’ and ‘L. Leroy & Cie’. |
Notes: |
There are 2 numbers associated with the chronometer. The exterior plaque says 1081 and the movement and bezel are numbered 1100. The wood under the plaque is inscribed 1100 in pencil.
